Canopyplot: Canopy Cover
Privacy Policy
Summary
Canopyplot does not require an account and does not include advertising, third-party analytics, tracking, or a developer-operated network service. The developer does not collect data from the app.
Data stored on your device
Project names, site and station codes, observer names, measurement entries, field conditions, notes, quality flags, photo-classification settings, and app preferences are stored locally in the app's private container. This information is used only for the app's survey, calculation, persistence, review, and export features.
Photos you select
Canopyplot uses Apple's system photo picker. The app does not request broad access to your photo library. Only an image you explicitly select is passed to Canopyplot for on-device analysis. The image is not uploaded, transmitted, or added to the saved project record; the app stores the numeric result, settings, context, and notes you choose to save.
Camera, location, microphone, contacts, and sensors
Canopyplot does not request direct access to the camera, precise location, microphone, contacts, Bluetooth, Health data, or environmental sensors. Site and station context is entered manually.
Bundled training images
The field-training images included with Canopyplot are part of the installed app. Selecting one does not make a network request. They are illustrative examples and are not calibration data.
Exports
When you choose an export, Canopyplot creates PDF, CSV, or JSON files and presents the standard iOS share sheet. The app does not transmit those files on its own. A destination you choose, such as Files or Mail, handles the exported information under that destination's privacy practices.
External method links
Canopyplot includes optional links to public USDA Forest Service, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and peer-reviewed research resources. A link opens only after you select it. Those websites receive ordinary browser requests under their own privacy practices; Canopyplot does not attach project data to the request.
Data collection
The developer does not receive, collect, sell, or use survey records or selected photos from Canopyplot. Apple may process App Store purchase, crash, and diagnostic information under Apple's policies and your device settings.
Deleting data
Delete individual projects inside Canopyplot or delete the app from the device to remove its local app container. Files you previously exported must be removed from their saved destinations separately.
Changes
If the app's data practices change, this policy will be updated before the changed behavior is released.
